It's Hot and there is Hockey

Fall Flowers
Preparing for Halloween yet it is so warm that I forgot my sweater at work. Didn't need it so I walked out without it. Other than the shorter day light hours you would think it was summer not fall. Not complaining at all and I want a winter with very little snow. Had shingles, got rid of them, they may be returning thanks to stress at work.
In the mean time I bought a great little zombie girl for Halloween. I set her up in the living room and I forgot she was there and I had a start when I went to the kitchen. I made a small video and had two people startle when viewing it. It will be fun at Halloween.

The Loons

What nice weather. It's surprising, technically still summer but such mild temperatures. Dad tried his new paint sprayer, not a winner and still some painting to finish up. This morning, rather 4:30 a.m., I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. It's ringtone is a loon's call. I sat straight up totally disorientated looking for my phone. I'm hoping seconds later I realize that it is actually real loons calling to each other.

Rats, New Neighbours

After thinking our neighbours were selling their house I found out that he is installing a different set of his family in there. I'm not sure if there will be a second set or not, best we can hope for is no parties. I think his original plan of making it a boarding house is coming to fruition.
Not sure what to think.

Algae Every Where

What does Thursday, Friday and Saturday have in common? Rain. Everything is green with algae. I have slipped on mud and stones
covered in green slime. I have barbecued in the rain, the mist and the almost sun. The point of getting away is not to think of work, somehow I did check my work email and started to plan out the week. Dad and I cleaned up a fallen tree branch, put grass seed down, chainsawed the branch and cleaned up around the cottage. Lincoln is one tired puppy. He went in the water several times and chased a squirrel. Dad yelled from the top of hill for me to grab my camera cause he found a turtle. Me and Lincoln ran all the way up and stopped in front of the turtle. Dad stared at me waiting for my reaction. I stared at the turtle and stared at dad and back to the turtle.

Opening Up the Cottage

First the packing, trying to pack the essentials, pack the food, clothes, camera and other stuff.
Then the long drive up with the usual stops. Gas, grocery store, Tim Horton's and Home Hardware in Minden for a pit stop and last minute supplies. I bought Kevin a tan tshirt, camo baseball cap and deer fly patches for the hat ... early birthday gifts.
We arrived about 6 pm to enjoy the murder of blackflies at the landing. The water is real high reaching the first step. The corner of the beached dock is in the water. Strangely there are few bugs here.
We woke up to a thunderstorm and rain that lasted the whole afternoon.

There is one huge branch down and the porch and second cabin's roof is stll leaking.

A New Begining

I have been trying not to carry my worries around, trying not to mull too much. Every time I mull I have been boring everyone with the minutia of my thoughts on my problems. We had a lesson in finding our joy and I can't fully embrace it yet. It is like a puzzle that I can't quite solve. At work I measure my words carefully so I will not regret it later and I second guess myself, have I covered everything. Seeing the new miniature horse at David & Elaine's farm begs of a new beginning .

Springtime Brings Wonderful Things

Watching the playoffs curled up in a comfy chair, nursing a headache and an iffy stomach. It was a long day a work now that I'm splitting my time between two programs.

It finally happened, green, small flowers, thunder storms and

birds. With the added bonus of screeching city raccoons. Spring has arrived. At David & Elaine's Farm a new miniature horse popped into the world. He is the size of a small dog with tons of energy.

I bought one of those Costco flower baskets with assorted bulbs, all of the flowers have died back so I put it outside in the backyard. Now the ornamental stick is starting to grow. Can't wait to see what it will grow into.

I have to look into my possessions to see what can be thrown out, what can be given away and what is to donated to charity. Cleaning house is good for the soul.
